Rape is never 'deserved'

There was this 'discussion' in our office yesterday.

Note that 'discussion' is a nice word for our 'discussion'. Someone said something about 'sluts'; I said there is no such thing as a 'slut' (which I don't actually have a strong argument for; I can admit I'm very much a Female supporter)...anyway somehow, via many exchanges of thought... the 'discussion' suddenly turned to 'this person' saying (and this is a direct quote) "Well if girls dress slutty they deserve to get raped".

I can not express how outraged, pissed off and disgusted I was. The discussion got heated; everyone joined in, with everyone having a counter argument to 'this persons' opinion. I was spitting angry.

Ever since I've been both fuming and struggling in my efforts to see 'this persons' side.

My conclusion is that his opinion is just stupid, ignorant and not well thought out.

Rape by definition means that one party is non-consenting and there is no logical argument to anyone 'deserving' rape.

I think though this whole event has taught me something; I can sort-of understand how people can get so angry over one issue, and how much compassionate understand for others opinions that I must have that stopped me from punching 'this person' in the face.

Yaz: in the event that you wake up next to a kangaroo after a long night hitting the town what is it you first do?

BIG M: turn over and go back to sleep!! then once i actually am ready to get up, probably return the kangaroo to the zoo very ninja like, maybe tip the kangaroo for a good night. Because in the kangaroos pouch i would find a camera with all of the nights events on it. This would then end up on facebook incriminating all of whom took part in the best BIG M party in the world. then maybe chuck a text round to see if i can locate my missing pants (they of course would have gone missing) as well as the key to my house as i would have ended up somewhere on the beach for some reason I think. I may have wanted to make the kangaroo to feel at home so the sand would have done that.

I'm struggling to regain my grip on writing. Usually its my ability to procrastinate that does it. There's always something better to do. But I think at the moment the real thing that stems the flow is my inability to multi-task. I'm trying to grasp at straws on so many thoughts; projects, tutoring, inspiration, work, distractedly thinking of my wonderful boyfriend, spelling, yea you'd be surprised how much that last one irks me... I'm not sure. Time to get back on the drugs (not the kind your thinking) and the water I think.

Yep so I havn't blogged in a while huh. First I blamed my work over the summer with numerous excel spreedsheets and some uh 'interesting' social politics. Then I blamed by work back at Uni and the sudden progression down the slippery work juggling slope... But really. I blame me. I havn't felt inspired in a while. Strange huh its not like the world got any smaller or that life even got less 'cool' but never the less. I havn't been painting. I havn't been drawing: unless its in class and im bored (and that doesn't really count). I havn't been in communications with the extended crew.

Yea No thats right, I actually got clipped by a car today. This afternoon. Some (insert expletive) person in a car hit me in the middle of a pedestrian-crossing. One minute I was walking pretty much across -thinking that the car had stopped- and then, alot like a Frisbee, I was up and DOWN. KO! AND the guy in some fancy blue racy looking car(yea I'm assuming it was a guy) ...slowed down and then sped off! Thankfully our diary dude then ran over to see if I was OK and I began started checking I could feel my fingers and toes.

You know what the lamest part was though -(excluding the (expletive) dude driving off without checking I was OK)? I only have bruises. I mean I'm not wishing I got hurt anymore than I currently am, because I am not a big fan of pain. But when I say 'I got clipped by a car' and someone asks 'WHAT?! Are you ok??' I kinda want an answer thats better than 'Yea, I'm actually fine. Thank you.'.... especially when i had the right of way and I thought he was stopping! I think I have issues, But you know drama is part of the female psychosis. Yep. When I moan about my lack of obvious injuries thats the excuse I'm going to use

I have a part-time job! Very part-time. In fact so part-time it doesn't even have solid hours. But thats not point! WOOOOO money coming in! Sadly very exciting. Anyways in other news...not sure if i blogged it yet BUT I'm now doing Masters, part 1 of 2 years. Thats right, I'm now officially expected to be more intelligent than i actually am. If i pass this it will be awesome! and I will also be pleasantly surprised with myself. Aim for first class honors yet expect alot less, that will be my philosophy. Pessimistic as always.

While un-humbly I sit
typing my thought path around everything seems to...'move'... not quiet the word.

The flatties all are watching their Tvs. Each to their own in their own rooms; the no-living-room situation of this flat is a whole new culture. So add in the bumble of mashed words and echoing music.

And the old timber weather board generated thing that is my flat does its whole pushed moan thing. Ah I feel so intimate with the neighbours when I can hear their every move and whisper above.

'Our' cat; who is not so much mine as much as she is my new flats; has recently received a flee collar,she not exactly loving it and keeps trying to dislodge it, scratching at it, tugging, rolling on the floor. -Though actually no birds have died due to the collar's bells in recent days neither have any mice- I think. I was happy about the birds but... not so much about the small squeaky mammals; I have no problem with the mice UNTIL they get in my food, at that point I'm all for the cat colar going on holiday. The cat will love me...

And here in the little coven that is my fraction of space you have the background tick of typing music and the epicness that is the Whip It movie soundtrack.

I should really be questioning why I'm sitting here pondering sounds huh.

Placed. A blog that does upload! Ha I actually thought I'd never be able to stick things up again, looks like I was wrong. However....

I finally got a space with an outside area! Bottom storey, and some beautiful windows from which I can see... pretty much everything; like houses, my road (which is one way traffic wize) (OH! AND it has deciduous trees that spread along the edge of the road touching against each other from both sides...in Winter its going to look really creepy as the leaves fall off and messy as the leaves all jumble together...and alas I think I'm ranting in a bracket....moving on).... then the view stretches out over town.

Did I mention it has grass? Grass. It's got it. And you thought I was going to loose it when I moved. pfft.

This time last year I was saving hardcore for Sydney. I was a 'retail assistant'. You may know me from such things as 'do you know where i can find these nails?' or 'this curry is too hot'. But then you may know every semi-decent waitress/hardware store worker as this too. This summer: I'm working at Universtiy, lets face it I live here; and woo you say 'from retail to research assistant??'. I've headed back to Taupo for a mates 21st. Happy big Birthday if you read this. Seeing as Uni is now over, depending on if I get into Masters or not, its time for life-path movement. Its been kinda scary, well not scary, just time to consider options. And I have to give up my beautiful home with its grass patch, ah how I will miss the fire escape and the cafe and the flatties. New homes and choices though, thats cool. You know how you get annoyed by those who can't bend to change? I don't know if everyone does that? I do. Yet when change happens upon me I'm never too happy about it, I'm a settler, given opportunity I will happily settle right here. And whats to stop me?

Too comfortable is what. can't get too comfortable is my motto, someone will go and pull the rug right from under you and SMASH you will go. And from the fainting incident at the start of the year I know very well that smashing into hard floored surfaces hurts like hell, or the very least bruises your knees.... You will love this kitten. This kitten will not stay with you for years and then tell you it never loved you, insinuating that it was only there for the food. I very much doubt it will pick at your insecurities untill they're rather large gapping holes. I think if it could ask you something it actually would rather than wait for you to make the embarrassing first move. This kitten like most cats probably also appreciates stroking for the slightly wondrous thing that it is and. This kitten will grow a little less cute, a tiny bit grumpier and maybe old but it will understand that it needs you and you need it, or it will if you are nice. You will always think this kitten is gorgeous even if it breaks your heart and you will move on and get another, or maybe a dog if you have any sense and the cycle will continue.

Another NZ roadie back home to Taupo and to Mount Maunganui. Stopped on the way to check out this cute falling down old place just out of Taihape. Gorgeous New Zealand Wood Pigeons were in the tree just out the front but the no floor problem and the falling roof of the house could make living in it a little difficult. The photos further down are a nasty weather view of the Desert Road and a view from the coast near Tauranga.

+ acknowledgment of those in Christchurch- hope your all safe and your houses weren't too damaged in the earthquake. Thoughts are on you.

I don't know if anyone else gets like this but theres always that time of month in my life...not the time of month your thinking. EW. But the time where every bill comes all at once. I naturally rank them. Rent comes first, i need shelter. Power comes 2nd, i need warmth and electricity. Internet 3rd, otherwise how would i communicate?! Food last. Now food makes sense in this order; i have emergency food in the cubboard. Food can be borrowed. Food can be made out of those weird laste remaining peices in your cuboard and no-one has to know that you just combined spagetti with potatoes and frozen vege...besides its the student way! But tell your mum that food comes last at this time of the month and there will be complete uproar. Don't do it man! The honesty is honestly not worth it.

Daffodil Day is coming, 27th! It be my favorite day of the year. While its obviously a cancer event and those involved will be fund-raising intensely, me, myself and whoever else wants to join will b supporting via donation-AND most importantly-giving out daffodils to you who make life good, like a valentines day for EVERYBODY. I truly love the idea of crying in the rain. No one to see you. Or at least no one to know if they did. A strange power to hide in plain sight and feel all the falling emotions one can feel while nothing stains the vision. I sometimes wish a person could radiate pain, push it out so others knew you were both hiding a smile and crying, that you were confused and lost and yet simultaneously anchored to the people and things that surround. Strange how one simple action can be the end of a trail. But the beginning.

...I actually considered today that the internet had run out of inspiration. How could i consider such a thing?! The internet has not failed you yaz! the internet could never fail you....unless it broke. Which it does on a regular basis, but not the point.... You must go onwards in your search!
